Final Idea: Celeste

I have decided to go with idea nineteen, hands coming out of the bathroom. The idea is that the hands represent the hands of those who haven’t washed their hands. They are unclean and contaminated but despite this, they are still reaching out to touch people. Showing how a lack of hygiene and awareness can lead to the spread of illness. The bathroom would be the best place for this because it is the place where people need to wash their hands. Maybe it’s slipped their minds or they think that it’s not necessary. This installation would remind them as to why they need to wash their hands.

Idea 1

• A set of hands made out of wood, resin or plaster. Each one is in a different position based on handwashing
• Projected on it are red germs 
• There are less and less based on how long the hands have been washing

Idea 2

• Cutouts of people ranging from young to old
• Projection of viruses buzzing around and congregating around hands and nose

Idea 3

• A sink or perhaps cleaning objects piled up
• Projected on it are smiling healthy people
• Projected outside it are angry germs who can't get close

• Two cut-outs of humans are placed by the door, one is going in and the others leaving
• The person leaving has germs projected on them
• Remember what you can carry with you, wash your hands!

• Child mannequin reaching out to an adult mannequin 
• The adult has gunk project on their hands 
• Behind them, germs are projected on the wall and they’re reaching for the child

• Projected goop oozes around as if it’s alive and a healthy human is near it
• A barrier of cleaning supplies separates them, highlighting the importance of such things

• A group of modeled hands creates a circular barrier
• In the middle words are projected like, elderly, immunocompromised, chemo patients, etc.
• Around the hands there are dirty hands projected, surrounding the clean ones

• Panels of paper or wood are standing up
• Projected on each are the ways you're supposed to wash your hands
• They look like shadow puppets and have time intervals above them

Final Idea 2: Celeste Kallio

I have decided to go with idea seven. This represents how it’s important fur us to stay healthy so that we can protect those who are at risk. Could be thought of as a small representation of herd immunity. The gunk and hands would be a sharp swirling red. The projected hands stretching out of the gunk. The white hands would be in the shapes of the handwashing process. The words in the middle of the hands would be in the shape of a person. The virus is all around us but by washing our hands and staying clean we can help prevent the spread.
