Baylor Talcott - Trash
Trash
Concept:
My concept for this project changed dramatically over the span of two weeks. Initially, I was planning on presenting this in public in the Vaughn Center. That changed due to an emergency surgery then after I was recovered, the COVID-19 outbreak happened so I had to do it in my home. The idea is to show the negative effects of trash and how humans are neglecting their obligations to make a change. I would do this by projecting images of trash onto trash bags.

Using Pinterest, I was able to collect a number of images that I was able to take inspiration from. These varied from photos of pollution in the ocean to uses of single-use plastics being repurposed into art. I plan to use technology to emphasize the mood of the project which is guilt. I want to inspire people to take action and make a difference in their behaviors. The specific technology I plan to use includes After Effects, Premiere, and Arena software to then be projected upon trashbags.
Rendering:
These are the concepts that I came up with prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Obviously, this changed due to the fact I had to improvise from home. However, I was able to do something similar just not quite up to scale.
Planning:
Ignoring the rustic features of this spot, I had no other choice in my home because of the online classes. This was the only bare wall with the most projection capabilities. I planned on placing the bags on top of one another to create a stack. Overall, I had to make do with that I had.
Budget/Resources:
For this project, I tried to keep the budget below $10. That was relatively easy since most of the time trash is free.
Electronics:
- Computer
- Projector
- HDMI Cable
Programs:
- Reslume
- After Efftects
Items:
- Trash bags
-Trash
Content:
- Video of trash and negative effects
Most of these items I already had so I didn't have to spend any money to create this project.
Project 1:
After everything was conducted, I was able to create images that were better than I could've thought. Here is the final project. Here is the link to the Youtube video.
