FMX-463 Multimedia Installation Art

Trash  Concept:  My concept for this project changed dramatically over the span of two weeks. Initially, I was planning on presenting this in public in the Vaughn Center. That changed due to an emergency surgery then after I was recovered, the COVID-19 outbreak happened so I had to do it in my home. The idea is to show the negative effects of trash and how humans are neglecting their obligations to make a change. I would do this by projecting images of trash onto trash bags.  Using Pinterest, I was able to collect a number of images that I was able to take inspiration from. These varied from photos of pollution in the ocean to uses of single-use plastics being repurposed into art. I plan to use technology to emphasize the mood of the project which is guilt. I want to inspire people to take action and make a difference in their behaviors. Concept Space has always been something that interests me.  I love the idea of being able to see the planets and stars from a spaceship, but obviously this isn't really something that can be done by your average person. So I thought that I could possibly bring the view of space to earth. I wanted to inspire people by making it look like they were looking out at space. Perhaps this would make them want to seek out ore information or go into a space-related field of work. For my installation I decided to set up a project in which I projected space into the cass lab. To do this I scouted a location and then I started planning. The location I chose was a room on the second floor of the cass lab that has a large window. Did you know that there are more plastic than fish in the ocean, as of today? "Many Americans prefer to buy their bottled water in bulk, purchasing an estimated 2.6 billion cases each year." - creditdonkey.com I have unintentionally saved about 150 or more water bottles as I was lazy enough to not recycle or throw them away. However, this has come to make me realize that the amount of water bottles I use as one person, is a LOT. So for this project, I tried to imagine what it'd be like to have a display of water bottles being protested. The overall idea of the project is to make people realize how many bottles of water one human can make. It's quite unfortunate that during the process I wasn't able to use all of my water bottles, but I managed to get at least 20+.
